China maintains contact with food security authorities in relevant countries and regions

On September 18, 2008, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu held a regular press conference and answered questions.

When she answered the question about the milk scandal, she said that China understands the concerns of other countries; China would like to enhance the cooperation on food security with relevant countries and regions and to solve the problems with a scientific and objective attitude.

She also revealed that since the Sanlu milk scandal happened, the Chinese government adopted responsible attitude and active measures to domestic consumers. It informed WHO and other countries of the incident and investigated the situation of import and called back the problematic products. China will maintain contact with food security authorities in these countries and regions.
